Magic Hat Sounds ("we", "us", "our") operates the website magichatsounds.com. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit our site.

Contact form submissions: When you use our contact form to reach out about collaborations, songwriting, or production work, we collect your name, email address, inquiry type, and message. This information is processed through Netlify Forms and used solely to respond to your inquiry. It is never used for marketing or shared with third parties.

Newsletter signups: When you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address. This information is processed through Netlify Forms and used solely to send you infrequent updates about new releases, collaborations, and other Magic Hat Sounds news. We do not use your email for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose. You may unsubscribe at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

Analytics data: We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, time on site, device type, and general geographic region. Google Analytics uses a random identifier rather than your name or email, and we only ever see the data in aggregate. Analytics cookies are only set after you provide consent.

We do not:

• Sell or share your personal information with third parties
• Use your data for advertising or profiling
• Create user accounts or store passwords
• Collect payment information

3. Cookies

We only set our own cookies for Google Analytics. When you first visit, a consent banner asks your preference. If you reject cookies, no analytics cookies are set and Google Analytics operates in cookieless mode. Your preference is stored in your browser's local storage.

• Google Fonts: Supplies the typefaces and icons on our pages. Your browser downloads them from Google, which receives your IP address. Google Privacy Policy
• Spotify: Embedded player for our latest release, plus optional song previews that only load when you press Preview. Spotify Privacy Policy
• YouTube: Some upcoming-release teasers are YouTube videos. They use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and only load when you press play. Google Privacy Policy

Our website contains links to third-party websites and services, including but not limited to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon Music, Audiomack, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, and Ditto Music. These links are provided for your convenience and do not signify our endorsement of, or responsibility for, the content, privacy practices, or policies of those sites.

Pre-save links: "Pre-save" buttons for upcoming releases open a SmartLink page run by our distributor, Ditto Music. Pre-saving there may ask you to connect your Spotify, Apple Music or other streaming account, and is handled by Ditto under its own privacy policy and terms. We do not receive your streaming account details.

When you click a link to a third-party site, you leave our website and are subject to that site's own privacy policy and terms of service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit. Magic Hat Sounds is not responsible for any data collected by third-party platforms.

6. Do Not Sell

7. Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry. Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe — upon unsubscribing, your email address will be removed from future sends. All form data is handled according to Netlify's data retention policies. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics default settings (14 months).

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you — including your newsletter subscription email — by reaching out via our social channels or by replying to any newsletter email you receive from us. We will respond within 30 days.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
